Our vacation this year was pulled together at the last minute. We weren't going to go to save for our overseas travel next year but my husband thought it would be great to have take the kids somewhere before the school starts. So on August 8, we went to Las Vegas. We had a connecting flight to Chicago. Our flight was early in the morning so we had to wake up around 2 so we could drive to the airport then check in.
Checking in these days are changed. You have to print your boarding pass at home or else you will be charged when you print it at the check in counter. You also have to check in by yourself. Employees are just there to assist you when you need one. But I think it depends on the airline you are flying in. Some still does the check in by the employees. We flew with United Airline going to Vegas and it was comfortable coming back though was a different story with Spirit Air.
While my husband was checking in, I got the chance to take some pictures of my kids who are very enthusiastic and excited with this trip. They don't mind waking up early and got ready as quick as they can with no problem.
We ate breakfast while waiting for our flight.
As the morning is breaking in and the sunrise is peeking through, we have arrived to O'Hare Chicago International Airport. I was surprised that they even gave us drink and snack on that short flight. The flight attendants were very friendly and we had a good experience with the said airline.
We haven't gone on a travel to Chicago yet so it's refreshing to see the aerial view of the city.
I hope that someday, we could go on a vacation to Chicago. I heard so many wonderful things to do in Chicago and it would be nice if we can spend a vacation there. For now, I am content that I got to see part of it. O'Hare International Airport is super clean. I love their art exhibits and they even have urban garden that is located in terminal 3 but unfortunately, it was far from us so we didn't get to see it. My kids favorite is the moving walkway.
It was very pretty when lit up. My son went thru the moving walkway so many times while we wait for our connecting flight to Las Vegas lol. O'Hare International Airport is definitely one of the most beautiful airport I have ever been to, there is so much to see.

We had a very bad experience with United, so we won't fly them anymore, but I am glad you had a good trip :)
We love exploring whatever we can. I'm so glad that you took the kids on a trip before going back to school. I think kids have more education going out and checking it out for themselves.
Vegas is one of my fave places to visit with and without kids. It's a quick flight from most airports and always affordable.
Glad you had the chance to visit Vegas. Flying is the fun experience or adventure it use to be. Long lines, rude people and small seat.
Ooo I've always wanted to go to Vegas. One day, I hope. I flew on United years ago, but I usually stick with Southwest just because they don't charge for baggage. I didn't realize they made you print out your ticket at home--Southwest will print it for you, which is good, because sometimes my printer won't work!
We haven't been to Vegas in years - we should return soon. I live in Chicago, so you should make it back sometime soon- so much to see and do here!
IT sounds like you have a good trip with United Airlines, how awesome to get to visit Las Vegas and I hope you make it to Chicago one day!
VEGAS is great. I need to go back so I can shop more ;) AND I also need to visit Chicago!
Wow - you have to pay if you don't print your boarding pass in advance?! Times really have changed. It looks like it was a fun flight. Some airports seem like a travel destination themselves!
Sounds like you and your family had a great time flying with United Airlines. I've only ever flown Delta, but had great experiences.
O'Hare is such a cool airport. I love that they took time to really focus on the details.
This sounded like a pretty smooth traveling experience. That view of Chicago was really nice!
I've always printed my boarding pass, but had no idea that they are charging if you forget to print it...that's crazy. Been to Chicago and stayed near the miracle mile and loved it.
I have flown into Chicago twice. I saw those colored lights and they are really neat to watch, so colorful and fascinating.
Great pictures, I love a good aerial view. Sadly I've not been to Chicago or Vegas. This was a great way to end the summer.
Looks like you had a great trip! It is hard for kids to travel, but yours look like they did a great job. I have never flown through Chicago, I am sure I will one day soon.
The Chicago airport is one of my favorites. It's so big and has so many fun things to do it's almost a vacation in itself.
Vegas is only about 6-8 hours from me so we typically just drive out, but sometimes I think it would be so much better to fly. Easier for sure!
