The Essence of Family

What is the true essence of family for you? Do you just call a family because you belong to the clan? A family for me is my LIFE, the reason I exist, and the reason I am able to conquer all the obstacles that comes my way. How about you?

I often heard this in the Philippines when I was growing up "The family that prays together, stays together." I remember when I was growing up, my paternal grandparents used to wake us up in the dawn so we could say a prayer and I couldn't understand that as a kid because you know when you're young, all you want to do is sleep especially early in the morning lol.

My version to the above mentioned saying is "The family that walk and play together, stays together", what do you think? Anyhow, these photos were taken when we had our walk during the last few weeks of snow season.
We love taking a walk at my FIL's neighborhood.
Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

The family being together is what is so nice. True, our two children are in college and we can't be together as we once did, but except for a handful of times prior to college we always had supper together, always talking. The term 'quality time' I hate, for as often as possible we want and try to stay together for as long as we are able. Time with the family is always so precious...

I like that saying about the family that prays together. I think it's true and time tested! My husband's family all awoke at dawn to pray before my FIL got ready for work. I think it helped make my sweet man who he is today. Love your kiddos snowy footprints making shadowy memories. Happy SSS!

I agree to all the sayings you've quote here Mommy Rose. I too remember those times when my maternal grandmother woke us up in the dawn to pray, as in todo na to lol!! Happy weekend!

Any activity, whether spiritual or physical, if done together as a family, bonds each member with a permanent bond that is hard to dislodge even by the stormiest events in our lives. That is the essence of family bonding and assures us of unity and harmony within the family. Kaya nga strong ang family ties nang mga Pinoy dahil sa bonding experiences nila sa kanilang pamilya. Thanks for the profound post. God bless you all always.

I like reading about your family's story, it inspires me in a way that I know someday my children and I will find that kind of closely-knit family happiness too. I myself grew up in an unconventional family, but it didn't really bothered me until my peers started pointing out the lack in my life, but then again, I am thankful that I have folks who are still supportive of me. Have a happy holy week!

I love the heart shaped footprints! Kami namn nung bata kami tuwing 6Pm e tinatawag ni mader para mag rosaryo. Syempre pag bata ka nakakainip mag rosaryo kasi mahaba ang dasal kaya minsan e nakakatulog ako. lol!
