Pittsburgh Zoo - Part 2

Hello everyone, how's your Monday so far. Ours started early because al of us have to wake as it's my husband's frst day of school. I had to take my youngest burrito with us to go to school and send our eldest. Hope the start of the week at your end is great.

Below are the second batch of the photos we took during our recent visit to the Pittsburgh Zoo. The photos of the animals will posted separately.

There's a place where they let kids find for treats like candies and stuff. My daughter won't pass that adventure lol.

Then we stop briefly at the food area and got some drinks and a little snack.

We proceeded to the PPG Aquarium to see different fish and other swimming critters.
The kids wanted to see the stingray closely so they went to the tunnel.

Our family picture at the zoo taken by my sister -in-law, thanks Chris. Those umbrella stroller helps us a lot in roaming around the zoo.

Please tune in for the last part, I will be posting it soon as soon as I find time lol. Thanks once again for dropping by at my blog and hope that you enjoy your stay. I enjoy reading all your comments so please keep it coming!

Excellent First Week of School

Rylie had an excellent first week of school. She seemed to enjoy it a lot. She doesn't mind waking up early. I mind because I wake up at 5 am to prepare her breakfast and lunch hehehe. I am getting used to it now though. Of all the kids in her class, she is the smallest lol.

This is the official first day of school. We encouraged her to use uniform even though they are not required. Her and her classmates wear uniforms on Mondays and Thursdays.

Her choice for her school things is Tinkerbell theme. We bought her a backpack for her size and a lunch bag.
Then we had to replace her backpack because the notebook and folders doesn't fit into the small one.

The school is just a ten-minute walk from our home so we are walking her down there every day and fetch her in the afternoon. I have to wake her up at 6 am so she could eat her breakfast (it takes 20-30 minutes for her to eat wahhh). We usually out the door at 7:15.

Yesterday it was foggy when we walked out the door. She wanted to go early so she could be the first one there. We left at 7 am lol. We beat the teacher from arriving in the classroom. She was shocked when we were there already when she arrived. She told me that Rylie don't need to be there till 7:30 hehehe.

She did great on her first week. It's nice to see the papers that she did the whole week with "great job" remarks from her teacher. They also used traffic lights for their behavior every day. Green means Good Job, Yellow - Caution, and Red for time out. She got green the whole week!

Nostalgia # 15 - Bang Flashback

In this post, you will what kind of gift I gave to my husband during our anniversary. He's been wanting one for security purposes and his desire ignited when someone stole one of my FIL's collection at his house. It's a little expensive but it makes my husband happy so I gave in and bought one.

We went to my brother-in-law's residence out in New Cumberland last weekend so we could fire test the hand gun. He lived in a country side so there's plenty of place there to shoot. I was suppose to try it too but the moment I heard the bang, a flashback came into me.

My father owned a rifle before and he uses it for hunting wild animals where we lived then in Ligao Albay. One day, him and his friends used it to shoot a chicken for their "pulutan" as they drink gin. I was 8 or 9 years old that time. My Mom was cooking some "maruya" and my brother and I were pounding the rice to make some flour for the maruya. My brother saw the rifle in our "balkonahe" and he thought that it was empty. He pulled the trigger and "bang". A little bit later my younger sister Roselda cried in pain and we thought that she was bit by ants or something. When I looked in her face, the blood were pouring. The bullet went into her head and I screamed and cried. I felt so bad for my brother because my father who was already drunk then kicked him where in fact it was his fault for leaving the rifle unattended and loaded.

The doctor was fascinated that my sister did not die, he said it was a miracle because the bullet made a way to my sister's brain. She was operated and the scar is still visible on her head till this day. My sister however lost her hearing on her left ear and she barely can hear on the right. But we were thankful that she made it. She is now married with three kids but yeah she bears the painful consequence of that tragic incident. It was a frightening moment that I will never forget. I've seen the actual scene when my husband fired and that hindered me from trying to fire it.

Here are some of the photos I took. The kids wore the hearing protection that my SIL lent to us.

My SIL Jill is a dog groomer and they have four fur babies. We had a chance to pet them except for one who wanted to attack all the time lol. Below is the few snapshots of their home. They have a swimming pool and a pool house with pool table and other games.

Hubby fired ten rounds but I only found 7 casing. I dunno where the other 3 casing went. Don't worry folks, the pistol is keep in a safe place so there's no way our kids will find it.

Pittsburgh Zoo - Part 1

Hello everyone. I felt good after my 30-minute workout at my treadmill today. The past couple of weeks has been very stressful to me because of Champ's accident (he broke his leg), then my daughter's school stuff, and my family back home. It's pretty much draining. So to ease those stress away, I run/walk for thirty minutes and burned 311 calories. I felt good after that and now I am exhausted lol. I have so many things to blog about but I just can't find time to do it.

Before I go to bed, I would like to share some of the photos that we had when we went to Pittsburgh Zoo last weekend. I think, I took 300 shots that day hahaha. I would upload it here little by little when I have free time. Here's the entrance where you pay the entrance fee.
Hubby asked the lady if they are giving military discount and the lady told her that they don't but she let my husband free of charge. That was very nice of her.

The kids enjoyed the Kids Zoofari first.I felt bad for the people who are wearing costumes that day because it was very very hot.
Then after some few pictures, we headed to the Asian Forest. Pardon for the ugly model lol.

The baby leopard was sleeping when we first started exploring the zoo. I'll show the photo I took when he woke up on our way out next time.

Good night everyone, thanks for visiting my less active blog. I appreciate your presence in here all the time, especially your lovely comments. God bless!

It's been..
