Mt. Rushmore - Summer 2021

We  have been wanting to go and see Mr. Rushmore and we finally get to see it last summer.  It's amazing to see it in picture but it is more awesome to see it with your own ice at the actual place.    I mean, whoever thought of carving these president's face in there was brilliant.  I am glad that we went there when our children are bigger because they get to appreciate it for what it is, for it's meaning.
What I love is the representation of each state through the flag display at the entrance.

The path which led Sculptor John Gutzon de la Mothe Borglum to Mount Rushmore began on a homestead near Bear Lake, Idaho, where he was born in March of 1867. His father, James Borglum, had immigrated to this country from Denmark a few years earlier. Shortly after Gutzon's birth his family moved to Utah. By the time Borglum was seven they were living in Fremont, Nebraska.
